ʿABDULLĀḤ ʾIBN ʿALAWĪ AL-ḤADDĀD: LIFE AND CONTRIBUTIONS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO RISĀLAT ʾĀDĀB SULŪK -MURĪD

There are many Sufis and Islamic scholars in our world. They all propagated the holy Islam through their spiritual life and valuable life style. Yemen is the land of several Sufi traditions which famed through the birth of many Sufis and scholars and emergence of many Sufi orders especially the Bā Álawī Sufi order which was started by Ahmad Esa. Many Sufis of this order propagate Islam throughout the world.
One of famous Bā Álawī Sufis ʿAbdullāh ʾIbn Álawī Al-Ḥaddād (1044 H- 1132 H) played a good and functional role in the propagation of Islam by his spiritual power. He was known as the reviver (mujaddid) of 12th century. He has written many famous books such as: Risālat  al-Muʿāwanat, al-Naāʾih  al-Dīniyyat wa al-Waāyā al-ʾĪmāniyyat,  al-Daʾwat  al-Tāmat wa tadhkirat  al-ʿĀmat,  Fusūl  al-ʿIlmiyyat, Sabīl  al-ʾIddikār, Risālat  al-Mudhākirat, risālat Ādāb sulūk  al-Murīd, Kitāb  al-Hikam, Itihāf  sāʾil,  Nafāʾis  al-Alawiyyat fi  Masāʾil  al-Sūfiyyat,  Dhurr  al-Manzūm li dhawī  al-Uqūl wa al-Fuhūm. And he founded some spiritual litanies like: wird  latif,  ratib  shahriyyat (ratib  haddad).
His life and immense contributions to the Islamic world need more attention in the curve of academic field. This research is an effort to make a voyage through the unexpired horizons of his life and contributions with special focus on one of his works ʾĀdāb sulūk -Murīd which describes the conduct of a Sufi disciple.
  The researcher intends to study on ʿAbdullāh ʾIbn Álawī Al-Haddād life and contributions as he is a famous Sufi scholar of Yemen who has contributed a lot in to the field of Tasawwuf, Tareeqat and spiritual science but was neglected in the current Sufi studies. The research focuses on his famous work ʾĀdāb sulūk -Murīd as it is a comprehensive treatise on conduct of Sufi disciple and it includes his views in Tareeqat and Tasawwuf.
