The literary contributions of Calicut Qazis with special reference to Qazi Aboobacker kunji’s spiritual works
          

The Qazis or muftis have great influence in the society. The position they held belong to an undeniable leadership which they have among community. The most renowned Qazi family in kerala is of the Qazi’s of Calicut. They have the legacy of socio-religious leadership in Malabar from a long period.
          The positive and clever interactions with the issues of community made Qazis popular among peoples. They were enough vigilant about the matters affecting the community either it may social, political and religious. The most influencial way which Qazisinteracted with community was through their works. CalicutQazis have a great collection of writings written in Arabic and arabiMalayalam which were the very prolific works of the time they lived. The writings included spiritual malas, fatwas and other socio- political advices. Which were widely read and memorized by local peoples? Thus the influence of these works by Qazis is evident.
          QaziAboobackerkunji (d 1301) is a genius figure in literary contributions from Qazi family. Being a Qazi and mufti, he had a healthy relation with zamorins of Calicut. He wrote many prolific works like aqeeda mala and shadulai mala which reached the extend of notable spiritual works of the time. He was the last Qazi whose after came the 2 system (big Qazi and small Qazi) in Calicut. Here, researcher deals with the literary contributions of these Qazis and with special glance over the works of QaziAboobackerkunji.
